Adult Continuing Education (ACE) is part of Milton Keynes Council's Learning and Development Directorate. We offer a wide variety of learning opportunities to everyone over 16. This year we will welcome more than 7000 students at more than 50 venues in Milton Keynes.

Adults return to learning for many different reasons and we offer courses for leisure as well as courses leading to examinations.

If you are not sure which course is right for you, speak to one of our staff before you enrol and they will be able to point you in the right direction.

Our fee policy is based on guidelines given by the Learning and Skills Council, who subsidise our provision at different rates according to nationally and locally agreed priorities.

Reduced fees

On courses leading to qualifications
In 2008-09 ACE is able to offer reduced fees on most qualification courses if learners meet the eligibility criteria. Please click on to any of the following links to find out more:

• 16 - 18 year olds
  
• Learners in receipt of income-based benefits
  
• Learners who do not have a full level 2 qualification
  
• 19 - 25 olds

All applications for reduced fees must be made in person as we need to see proof of your entitlement. The evidence needs to be dated within the last 3 months.

These courses are for learners who speak English as a second or additional language and live in the UK. Learners who receive income-based benefits pay £30, which is refunded on completion of the course. Most other learners must now pay a higher fee which will vary depending on the lenght of the courses.

English & Maths Skills for Life

These free courses are for learners who do not already have a GCSE A*-C, CSE Grade 1 or an O Level in English or Maths.

National Certificates at Level 2 are now accepted by many employers as equivalent to a GCSE A* - C.

When you phone to book onto a course, you will be invited to have a chat with an adviser and a skills-check, so that we can find out which course and level is best for you.
