Domestic Violence
The Home Office defines Domestic Violence as:
"Any incident of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional) between adults who are or have been intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender or sexuality". Domestic Violence describes a range of controlling and abusive behaviours that are experienced by mainly women and children and is mostly perpetrated by those with whom they are or have been in a relationship with, including partners, ex-partners and carers. The majority of known perpetrators of DV are men in heterosexual relationships. However, it is recognised that DV and abuse occurs across all ages, social groups and cultures throughout society and in a wide range of relationships. Are you Affected by Domestic Abuse?
